Unbelievably, the Canadian and Nova Scotian governments
have defied logic, compassion and decency and have given
the green light for another slaughter of defenceless baby
grey seals on so-called "protected" Hay Island,
a provincial nature reserve. Not only will terrified pups
be bludgeoned to death by Cape Breton sealers wielding wooden
bats, they will also be part of a macabre experiment testing
the use of low-velocity bullets.
Sealer Robert Courtney has confirmed to media that sealers
plan to travel to Hay Island this Thursday to begin the
killing. Bridget Curran, spokesperson and Director of the
Atlantic Canadian Anti-Sealing Coalition, is traveling to
Sydney on Wednesday to join the HSI/Canada team and will
be present on the island to document the slaughter. Bridget
will be posting her experiences, together with photos and
videos, on her blog Atlantic
Canadian Musings and will also attempt to Tweet
directly from the island. She will also make the videos
available on YouTube.
YOU CAN HELP NOVA SCOTIA'S GREY SEALS.
Please take a few minutes to do the following: |
| 3. |
Write to your local papers
condemning the cruel slaughter of baby grey seals in Nova
Scotia, particularly in provincial nature reserves. |
|
Thank you for speaking up for Nova Scotia's grey seals. It is incomprehensible
the killing will happen again this year, but we are very
close to ending it. Please stand with us as we win the final
victory for seals. |
