I am concerned about the DFO plan to kill 220,000 seals. Why are they doing it? It seems like bad science to me.
What can I do to help prevent this?

As a supporter of the SPCA and Bideawhile Animal Shelters ,I am sick and tired of the government's lack of action when it comes to animal welfare. The biggest problem with our oceans is man, not the seals which are supposed to be there in their natural environment.

This is barbaric, cruel and unjustified. I have advised my government that this will be a voting issue for me in the future. The NS govt has betrayed us for the sake of a handful of greedy fishermen. The average primary income in Port Hood is $45,000 and the secondary is $26,000, so their cries of poverty are more lies. This atrocity and cruelty to animals should not be allowed to happen anywhere, let alone in a 'civilized' country. E-mail your government and let them know that this will be a voting issue and tell them how you feel. Next on the agenda may be Sable Island, so please let our govt know how you feel.

I was recently shopping for "vitamins" in a local Sobeys store, when I accidentally came across a shelf of oil supplements. Among the many varieties were "Seal oil" supplements. These were made by a Nova Scotia company. I will no longer give Sobeys my business, and have informed them WHY. Our boycotts can begin at home!
