Two pups shot. One is writhing and rolling on the ice, in
pain. Stops moving but begins moving again as boat approaches. Pup rolls
over and within five seconds of last moving is hooked. Pup is visibly conscious
and ice is sturdy but sealers do not get out onto ice to perform three-step
process. Instead, they hook pup through the head, haul her onboard and leave
her thrashing in pain on deck while they hook and drag the second pup. Finally
one sealer turns his attention back to the first pup, kicking her over,
clubbing her once, kicking her over again, and clubbing her a second time.
Turns away from pup - does not test for consciousness or bleed immediately.
Time elapsed between first shot and clubbing - at least 78 seconds.
